SZCZAWNICA

SZALAY DAYS

Dni Polsko Węgierskie

In the heart of the Pieniny Mountains, the spirit of the Polish highlands meets Hungarian passion — all thanks to Józef Szalay.

Who was Józef Szalay? A Hungarian aristocrat and pioneer of the Polish spa tradition, he transformed Szczawnica into not only the pearl of the Pieniny, but also a symbolic bridge between Poland and Hungary. His vision, love for the region, and openness to people allow us to continue his legacy today — by celebrating together in this mountain spa town.

Szalay Days is a festival full of emotions, colors, and music, during which Szczawnica becomes the stage for two kindred cultures. The event features Polish–Hungarian music, highlander dances, and fiery Hungarian czardas, while Dietl Square fills with the aromas of goulash, lángos, and fresh oscypek cheese. It’s a cultural journey through time and space, proving that true friendship can connect generations and nations.

Whether you’re drawn to folklore, history, local cuisine, or simply a vibrant atmosphere — this event makes Szczawnica even more irresistible.
