SZCZAWNICA

The Taste of Water and Health

For over 200 years, Szczawnica has been a place where health and well-being come first. A walk through the spa town, a deep breath of fresh mountain air, and a moment of relaxation surrounded by nature are enough to experience the unique atmosphere of this remarkable place.

Szczawnica’s Health Trail leads through places that have supported rest and regeneration for generations—from walks through the Upper and Lower Parks and relaxation by the brine graduation towers to tasting the famous “szczawy,” the therapeutic mineral waters from which the town takes its name.

At the historic Mineral Water Pump Room on Dietl Square, visitors can taste six unique mineral waters:

Helena – one of the mildest in taste, traditionally used to support the treatment of digestive and respiratory conditions.
Jan – also used for mineral baths and recommended, among other things, for respiratory and urinary tract conditions.
Józef – a highly mineralised water that supports digestion and metabolism.
Józefina – Szczawnica’s oldest mineral spring, particularly valued for upper respiratory tract conditions and allergies.
Stefan – a mineral-rich water traditionally used to support the treatment of respiratory conditions and the prevention of osteoporosis.
Magdalena – one of the most highly mineralised waters in Szczawnica, recommended for digestive and biliary tract problems.

While walking around Szczawnica, visitors can also drink mineral waters directly from their natural springs:

Szymon – located near the lower station of the Palenica chairlift.
Wanda – its spring is located in the Lower Park, above the chapel.
Pitoniakówka – located on Skotnicka Street, it is one of Szczawnica’s most distinctive mineral waters.

Another important stop along Szczawnica’s Health Trail is the brine graduation tower in the Lower Park. This is a place that not only helps cleanse the respiratory tract and moisturise the mucous membranes, but also supports the immune system and provides an opportunity to relax and unwind.
